Abstract;A 73-year-old woman underwent a partial resection of the sigmoid colon followed by a colostomy for ileus due to cancer of the sigmoid colon. Colonofiber scopy revealed diffuse longitudinal ulcers in the lateral wall of the sigmoid colon on the 19th postoperative day and severe stenosis in the same area on the 48th postoperative day. That portion of the sigmoid colon which was diagnosed as obstructive colitis including the colostomy was resected. It is suggested that ulcerative lesion of obstructive colitis might develop into similar changes to ischemic colitis even after resection of the primary lesion. (author abst.)
