| Abstract; We report a 52-year-old man with choledocholithiasis who developed repeated hemorrhaging from the bile duct and severe hyperbilirubinemia. He was admitted for obstructive jaundice. His history included a common bile duct stone detected a few years earlier but left untreated. Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage was done. Biliary hemorrhaging occurred twice before surgery, which was controlled by saline lavage. He underwent cholecystectomy and choledocholithotomy. Hemorrhaging from the T-tube suddenly occurred on postoperative day 18 and repeated 1-3 day intervals. The anterior blanch of the hepatic artery was embolized for hemostasis. Total serum bilirubin exceeded 30 mg/dl after embolization, which was successfully reduced by occlusion of T-tube drainage. (author abst.) |
