| Abstract; We report a case of rupture of angiosarcoma arising from the spleen presented with hemorrhagic shock. A 79-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for an evaluation of splenomegaly. During examination, he suddenly fell in hemorrhagic shock state, and underwent an emergency operation. Splenomegaly was found with oozing type bleeding from its capsule. Multiple nodulus was detected at the liver surface. A splenectomy and a biopsy of the liver tumor were performed. Histological diagnosis was splenic angiosarcoma with hepatic metastasis. Postoperatively hepatic metastasis rapidly progressed, and he died of hepatic failure on 22nd POD. Rupture of angiosarcoma arising from the spleen is very rare and has a poor prognosis. We also present a review of the Japanese literature. (author abst.) |
