Abstract; When various viruses proliferate their genomes in nuclei, it is essential to transport their genomes into host cell nuclei in order to establish their infections. In some viruses, both signals from virus side presented at their nuclear entry, and the factors of host cells to recognize them have been identified. During the course of these studies the nuclear entry of virus is revealed to be closely related to changes of virus particle structure alterations. This article reviews current research results mainly focused on the relationship between virions and their functions of nuclear import machinery, and discusses how understanding their nuclear entry process is important to control virus infection.
