Abstract;A new lighting system, based on the "Office Circadian Lighting", the new concept using light and biorhythm (circadian rhythm) knowledge, has been developed for improving the office lighting environment and office workers' productivity and comfort. The developed system, installed in the company's headquarters building in Shiodome, Tokyo, consists of 4 stages including 1) High illuminance lighting, 2) Post-lunch dip lighting, 3) Off-hour lighting, and 4) Normal lighting, and is capable of changing the illuminance level in a range of 150 to 2500 lx by time zone. The system is designed to deliver an average initial illuminance of 3000 lx using 36 units of 2-bulb Hf 32 W fixtures with a mirror louver (V3 equivalent) for glare prevention. Energy-saving measures have been adopted by using daylight and initial illuminance correction control. (author abst.)
