| Abstract;Utilizing EMIT (Embedded Micro Internetworking Technology) to establish an open connection to the Internet, the developed system is capable of real-time monitoring the thermal load reduction effect and other comprehensive economic effects on air-conditioning of roof planting in urban areas. The "heat island effect" has been recognized as a problem, that is caused by concentration of human activity in urban areas and global warming by the release and accumulation of warming gasses,. Roof planting and other forestation on and around urban buildings are drawing attention as a means of solving these problems. This system has been developed and installed in the company's Tokyo headquarters building for enabling the multi-facet assessment of improvement measures and collecting field data for required maintenance.
