| Abstract;Transfer-messenger RNA(tmRNA) is a unique RNA having both functions of tRNA and mRNA, which universally exist in eubacteria. Its both ends take tRNA-like structures.tmRNA binds alanine, enters ribosome which is interrupted translation, and receives unfinished peptide. Then, it adds tag peptide coding itself as mRNA to the unfinished peptide, and accomplishes translation. This reaction of chimaera peptide synthesis by mRNA switching is called trans-translation, and may work for efficiency improvement of translation and quality control of proteins by decomposing imperfect peptides. |
