Abstract;During the investigation on gene expression in plants, phenomena to be suppressed expression of genetic informations introduced expgenously by phytovirus infections, or genetic transfections. Among the phenomena, that occurring after transcription is called posttranscriptional gene silencing (PTGS). As most of phytoviri consist of RNA as genes, PTGS becomes considered to be the bioprotective mechanism of plants. This article reviews knowledges obtained on PTGS in plants.
