| Abstract;It has passed 12 years since point mutation was identified in mitochondrial tRNA as a cause of mitochondrial tRNA diseases. Recently, lack of taurine modification to the first base of the letters of anticodon has been discovered in disease-causative mutant tRNA. This is the first case of the disease caused by the defect of posttranscriptional modification of tRNA. This indicates that imperfect proteins are synthesized by mutant tRNA. These results may give a clue to clarify the effect of an extremely little amount of mitochondrial tRNA genes detectable in aging and diabetes mellitus on somatic mutagenesis.. |
