Abstract;It is said that onset and progress of bronchial asthma are influenced by psychological factor, and there are several case reports that psychotherapy provided by clinical psychologist is effective means for its sound progress. Guideline of asthma treatment states that psychotherapy should be applied to selected asthmatic patients through a diagnosis that the patients are seriously influenced by psychological factor. Through psychological tests and psychotherapy, clinical psychologist can provide asthma patients a guidance to change their life and cognitive style. At the same time, clinical psychologist can instruct these patients the way of stress coping, and provide care for traumatic experience. Among intractable asthma patients, there are some personality disorder patients. Here again, psychological diagnosis and treatment are an effective means for their cure. (author abst.)
