| Abstract; We report a case of chronic atrophic gastritis whose serum marker of gastritis was monitored strictly after successful Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication. A 31-year-old male complained of a upper abdominal pain, with H. pylori positive. Laboratory data showed high serum pepsinogen I, II and low I/II ratio. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed corpus dominant atrophic gastritis. He was treated with combination therapy of lansoprazole, amoxicillin and clarithromycin for one week. We monitored his serum marker of gastritis strictly after H. pylori eradication. Successful eradication was confirmed three months after eradication by urea breath test Decreased serum pepsinogen II and increased serum pepsinogen I/II ratio was detected within a week after eradication. Serum antibody of H. pylori decreased to normal level two months after eradication therapy. This report revealed rapid changes of serum marker of H. pylori associated gastritis after successful H. pylori eradication. (author abst.) |
