| Abstract;We found that the serum calcium level decreased in 12 patients with chronic hepatitis C (7 men, 5 women; mean age, 57 years) who received interferon daily. The serum calcium level decreased from 8.8.+-.0.6 mg/dL to 7.7.+-.0.5 mg/dL after interferon treatment (p<0.05). The serum albumin level decreased significantly, and the serum calcium level remained significantly decreased after correction by the albumin level. The serum PTH level increased significantly, but the serum calcitonin level did not change significantly. (author abst.) |
