Abstract;This paper explains the following items on the titled study: 1) Verification test was performed at Saijo Central Park in Higashi Hiroshima City for 12 weeks by placing separated type waste receptacles, 2) test results on the effects of placing an explanatory notice board; littering ratio was greatly decreased and separation and contamination ratios improved. Even when waste receptacles were removed, the notice board prevented increase in littering ratio, 3) questionnaire was performed to inhabitants to survey the effects of consciousness and knowledge of separation on actual waste separation ratio and 4) questionnaire results based on calculation of virtual separation and contamination ratios; no such effects were found.
