| Abstract;The inclusion payment system (DRG/PPS) has been employed in U.S.A. since 1983. In order to achieve the reduction and the adequacy of medical cost, DRG/PPS is going to be inducted in Ja-pan. The trial has been carried out in 10 hospitals including Chiba National Hospital since November 1998. The Japanese DRG/PPS is not quite same as that of U.S.A. Some parts of piecework, surgery fee etc., are added to the inclusion part set for each DRG. The induction of DRG/PPS will necessarily lead to the shortening of the duration of the hospital stay of the patients. The development of the clinical pathway and its information disclosure are important not only for the decrease of the average hospitalization days hut also for the guarantee of the quality of the medical service.
