Abstract;The history of data communication software development in then NTTPC (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corp.) is described. In 1980s, using the large-scale TSS, an integrated software development system WAVE was developed to cope with a vast amount of software development demand mainly aiming at the INS project. For this purpose, a 'single-line protocol converter' was developed so as to apply personal computers as TSS graphic terminals, which brought about remarkable effects.
