Abstract;A 65-year-old woman presented with metamorphopsia and central scotoma in her left eye since 6 months before. Her left eye had myopia of -12 diopters and macular hole retinal detachment localized within the posterior staphyloma. The retina became reattached by scleral buckling using a macular explant. Corrected visual acuity improved from 0.02 before surgery to 0.15 one month after surgery. Throughout the course of disease, optical coherence tomography(OCT) was useful in the diagnosis of retinal detachment, and evaluation of the changing state of subretinal fluid. (author abst.)
