Abstract;A 46-year-old female presented with blurring of vision in her left eye. She had been diagnosed with adult T-cell leukemia and hepatitis B with cirrhosis one year before. She had been receiving chemotherapy. Her corrected visual acuity was 0.8 right and 0.04 left. Funduscopy showed paravascular exudates with hemorrhage in both eyes. She was positive for cytomegalovirus(CMV) antigen. These findings led to the diagnosis of CMV retinitis. Fundus findings improved and CMV antigen became negative 3 weeks after start of intravenous ganciclovir. CMV retinitis appeared to be due to immunosuppressed state secondary to adult T-call leukemia and chemotherapy. (author abst.)
