Abstract;Continuous epidural injection of 5 ml of 0.75% ropivacaine (RC) was made to 4 patients with S1 radicular pain (men at age 33 and 41, and women at age 52 and 61). Before the injection of RC, insertion of epidural catheter to the affected side at L5/S1 was carried out under X-ray diaphanoscopy. Its analgesic effects were satisfactory in all patients. Side effects such as lowering of blood pressure and liver disorder did not appeared in all patients, but the incidence of weakness, dysuria were apt to be worsened in aged patients. Analgesic effects were obtainable with RC injection but it was suggested that the optimum concentration and the optimum speed for the RC injection should be determined carefully.
