Abstract;Anatomical distributions of intercostals nerve and intercostal artery/vein were described here. For patients who have mutations in either of the costal nerve and costal artery/vein, costal nerve block may be not always recommendable. The costal angle was indicated as the optimal puncture site for costal nerve block. Pneumothorax as a complication of costal nerve block and its incidence were described. Furthermore, it was pointed out that costal nerve block might cause lesions in the spinal cord and the cord in the case of costal nerve block using a nerve destroying agent.
