| Abstract; In the clinic of cancerous pain treatment, it is being recognized that ketamine is very useful as an analgesic adjuvant of morphine. The effective analgesia can be expected by use of the appropriate combination of ketamine, which has the strongest analgesic effect of the NMDA(N-methyl-D-aspartic acid) receptor antagonists, and morphine. The following can be expected from the combined use of ketamine and morphine: The analgesic effect of ketamine itself, the morphinic synergistic effect, the decrease of the required dosage of both drugs due to it and the reduction of side effects, the prevention of progress to the neurogenic pain, and the prevention of the morphine tolerance possibly produced along with the prolongation. |
