Abstract; This article summarized postoperative pain control for patients with urological diseases, who received surgical treatments. The surgery for nephrectomy is often associated with postoperative pain that might affect respiratory functions. When the surgery was made under combination of general anesthesia and epidural anesthesia, epidural analgesia is chosen in general. Combined use of opioids would result in reductions of analgesic dose and its side effects. Generally, patient's controlled analgesia (PCA) is chosen for patients who received general anesthesia alone. It is recommended to use a combination of opioids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug as the analgesics. Intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes are chosen for PCA. An appropriate combination of administration routes should be chosen for PCA since surgical treatments in urological field are often applied to the elderly.
