Abstract;Gamma knife surgery (GKS) is one of the most advanced therapeutic methods in the neurosurgical field and a less-invasive therapeutic method to treat and control the intracerebral lesions without making craniotomy. Generally, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgical therapy are chosen for intractable pains. GKWS has been attracting attention as a new therapeutic method for intractable pain from the aspects of safety and efficacy. This article summarized intractable pains, trigeminal neuralgia and the pain of thalamus as well as clinical application of GKS, its practical procedures and the outcomes.
