Abstract;Itching is classified into two groups: One is induced by secretion of transmitters such as histamine and neuropeptides and the other is due to systemic disease. Local dermal itching is included in the former and systemic itching is often associated for the latter. Here, we reported a case of itching that appeared after the relief of acute eruption due to herpes zoster. It is likely that the case might have been induced by a local factor, but there were no clear sign of inflammation and general administration of lidocaine was effective. This suggests that ectopic burst of C-fiber transmitting the feeling of itching caused by herpes zoster was repressed by lidocaine.
