Abstract;For the treatment of chronic pain, the pain treatment based on the mechanism of the pain of which each patient complains is necessary. From the viewpoint of analgesic effects on the drugs whose pharmacological modes of action have been clarified, usefulness and problems of the drug challenge test which is a method for estimate of the pain mechanisms were explained.First the background was described, and the following sections were explained: The method and usefulness, the application to treatments, the usefulness and limits in chronic pain treatments, and the problematic points.
