| Abstract;A thermal-sensor-equipped automatic switch compatible with existing 3-wired manual switches has been developed to automatically control lighting fixtures through the detection of human movements. In order to make the 2-wire switch compatible with a 3-wire circuit, a low power consumption infrared human sensor and a low stand-by power signal-processing unit have been developed. The developed automatic switch is capable of controlling up to a 2 A load either for an incandescent or fluorescent light (except for the glow starter type). The upgrading capability from existing manual switches to automatic switches offers convenience and safety particularly to elderly residents. (author abst.) |
