| Abstract; For the purpose of preventing the stumbling of elderly persons and securing the posture balancing ability, a simple and highly reliable evaluation method of dynamic balance is proposed that features the use of ankle moment in a standing posture as an aging index. The results of the evaluation for aging effects with this method made on 514 healthy persons revealed that the change of ankle moment from a standing posture to the maximum forward leaning position reduced with age after mid-forties for both men and women. The comparison between men and women showed greater moment values by men in all age groups. This quantitative evaluation method of dynamic balance can easily be applied to field measurements and provide highly reliable results. The developed method has been used as part of the service business called "Active Age Check System", which provides easy testing of fitness for performance and scientific advice to the users.
