Abstract;The generation of abrasion powder in the hip prosthesis often originates from raw material quality and machining accuracy.In this paper, machining accuracy of representative hip prosthesis marketed in Japan was examined.It was examined for 12 polyethylene liners for the cementless metal shell (4 manufacturer *3).Metal or ceramics bone head (each 3 pieces) in each company were also examined.In the polyethylene liner,the roundness which could also satisfy which test object article almost was shown.In the meantime,there was a case in which the standard deviation of the homogeneous product of the equal manufacturer was big.Roundness of the whole bone head was average 1.52 .MU.m.One bone head was clearly inferior than product besides this company and product of other company.Bone head diameter and surface roughness were also examined.It was proven that there was considerably a difference on the product accuracy by the manufacturer.
