Abstract; The use of hypotensive drugs shown by the hypertension treatment guideline in Japan was outlined referring to the large-scale intervention test result for Japanese. It was indicated that the cerebrovascular disorder based on the hypertension was more overwhelmingly than ischemic heart disease at present in Japan unlike Europe and America. It was mentioned that the long-acting type Ca antagonist (I) demonstrated excellent effect for the antihypertension in the large-scale intervention test. It was described that AII receptor antagonist (II) and ACE inhibitor (III) centering on I would be used as the first selective medicine in future too. In addition, the treatment cost was also an important problem, and the therapy which used II or III jointly on the basis of I with comparatively low price was recommended.
