Abstract; The subject in the title was outlined. It described that the combined use of ACE inhibitor and Ca antagonist (C) was suitable for the improvement on the prognosis as well as blood pressure management and side effect reduction, and it explained the clinical results. It described that the high evaluation could be expected also on the combined use of C and AII receptor antagonist. There were many reports in which the reinforcement of antistenocardia effect and hypotensive effect was recognized in the combined use of .BETA. blocking drug and C, and the usefulness was recognized. It was described that the combined use of .ALPHA. blocking drug and C not only reinforced the hypotensive effect but also gave beneficial effect on lipid metabolism. The combined therapy including diuretic (D) was higher in effect than the combined therapy not including D. Accordingly, it was recommended that the combined therapy including D should be used regardless of C in at least 3 kinds of combined therapy. In addition, the effect of combined use of C and central neuron actuating hypotensive drug was described.
