Abstract;This paper describes the "Scientific verification of the medical effect of tea components" which received the institute prize and the "custom of tea rice gruel". The following are explained: Dental caries protective effect of fluorine, aluminum, and catechin that are contained in tea; structure dependence of the oxidation promoting ability of tea catechin under coexistence of transition metals and its mechanism. The following are introduced: Distribution of the custom of tea rice gruel, common name of tea rice gruel, time zone of eating tea rice gruel, species of tea used as tea rice gruel, food used in tea rice gruel, habit to use salt in tea rice gruel, habit to dip rice, and utensils used for tea rice gruel.
