Abstract;The authors examined the relation between the eating behavior and food information of female college students. They extracted basic factors related to food consciousness, classified persons by difference of reaction to the basic factors related to food consciousness, and clarified the features of classified persons. The obtained results are as follows. (1) As a result of analyzing the replies of persons to 41 questions related to the consciousness and attitude on eating practice using main component analysis, 5 questions related to "food information on shops with delicious meal and delicious cooking" were picked up as the first main component. (2) 57 persons who had positive mark 1.0 or more and and 54 persons who had negative mark 1.0 or over were selected by judging from points for the first main component, and the former was classified as an interest group and the latter as an indifference group. (3) The features of the interest group are as follows: Persons have strong interest in food and actively absorb informmation on food by using magazines and guidebooks, etc. For food enterprised, they have the image with fashion elements obtained from gourmet magazines and guidebooks. Persons of the indifference group have not strong interests in most of eating activities compared with the interest group. From the above results, it has been confirmed that food information has large effect on the eating behavior of female college students.
