Abstract;(1) The authors measured the right calcaneus bone quantity of 50 female college students by an ultrasonic wave bone evaluation instrument, and expressed it as osteological sound index (OSI). The mean value of OSI of the subjects was 2.619 .+-. 0.241, which was 97.1% of the criterion for screening by the elderly health law. (2) As the result of comparing the staple food intake frequency and eating preference of persons by dividing the subjects into 3 groups by OSI value, there was significance in the intake frequency and the degree of preference of milk at present and in the past, which suggested the correlation between milk intake and bone quantity. There was also significance among 3 groups in the intake frequency of small fish in the past. (3) The authors examined the correlation between students and parents on the preference and intake frequency of food, and found the correlation in the following foods: preference for soybean, processed soy products, snack confectionery, instant food, fast food; intake frequency in milk and dairy products, vegetables, seaweed, mushrooms, snack confectionery, and fast food. However, there was no correlation in preference for milk and dairy products, and preference and intake frequency for small fish. (4) The authors compared the following items for 3 groups divided by OSI value, but there was no significant difference: nutrient intake at present, age, height, body weight, BMI, menarche age, progress period after menarche, and degree of exercise.
