Abstract;In April, 2002, for diabetic keto-acidosis and coma diabeticum by elevation of glycemia under olanzapine administration, olanzapine became administration contraindication for the diabetics. Then, as it was considered that it was necessary to examine urgently the new appearance risk of hyperglycemia and diabetes mellitus with the administration of this medicine, an investigation was carried out. Though olanzapine shows also high effectiveness in the cases in which treatment is difficult in the conventional antipsychotic drugs, olanzapine also puts a new risk such as hyperglycemia. As the result of examination, the risk of hyperglycemia concerning olanzapine was 4.6%.
