Abstract; At present, in the Okinawa prefecture, the number of registered automobiles has increased so rapidly that, in the urban area, a chronic traffic jam is arising, and the mobility of automobile is being lowered. Because of such traffic jam, it has become difficult for the bus, which is the only public transportation service, to maintain the "exact time and constant speed"service. Thus, the urban monorail, which can utilize the road space more effectively. was introduced. This monorail is an one-man manually controlled 2-car train, which is equipped with rubber tires and pneumatic springs and runs by electric power. Here, its brake gear (regenerative brake is actuated, at first, and any remaining necessity is fulfilled by air brake) is explained.
