Abstract;Tohoku Univ. has carried out investigations for the variation of landform and the behavior of salt water intrusion in the river mouth of Abukumagawa river, flood and sediment runoff in the Abukumagawa river watershed, and beach erosion and landform change in the Sendai Bay coast for a long time. This paper arranges knowledges acquired in researches and various activities carried out up to now. This paper carries out quantitative evaluations taking mainly the formation of Sendai plain, the dynamic phase of sandbar in the Abukumagawa river mouth observed since 1984, landform change and sediment transport in the Sendai Bay coast, sediment downward flow from Abukumagawa river, sediment supply from Fukushima coast, and the total balance of these sediments as an object of discussion.
