| Abstract; In an attempt to focus attention on the natural world we live in and in particular the "SOIL" that constitutes the ground we walk on, we developed the activity of "MUDPAINTING (DOROE)" as a teaching material. Using elementary school 5th grade students for our test group, we researched its effects as an educational and evaluation tool, and investigated its potential to develop as an individual unit for integrated studies (we called it "MINI INTEGRATED STUDIES"). Our results showed that after trying "MUDPAINTING", almost all of the children showed a greater interest in the soil and rocks at their feet, and a heightened awareness of their environment, compared to their pre-experience levels. There was conclusive evidence that this subject had a great effect on stimulating children's intellectual curiosity and their desire to want to try. It was also clearly beneficial for cultivating their problem solving ability, allowing them opportunities to interact with their family, and for developing an interest in strata study science. Furthermore it was shown that this MUDPAINTING was a very effective topic that exceeded any one educational subject category. As such it was seen to have infinite practical potential as "MINI INTEGRATED STUDIES", and as an integrated studies topic, an area where we can expect greater development in the future.
