| Abstract;Major hog varieties currently raised in Japan are Landrace, Big Yorkshire, Duroc, and Berkshire. Except black hog, most pork have resulted from crosses of these varieties. There are various brands of pork with emphasis on production areas, raising procedures, or names of feed given. However, few of the brands are unique in character and it is difficult to state that the brands, except the black hog, have firm footings in the market. Therefore, Tokyo Metropolitan Livestock Experiment Station planned to develop characteristic pork and a pork brand. Fortunately, the pork developed has been marketed as TOKYO X and received attention. An introduction is given on the outline of development, production, and distribution of TOKYO X. |
