Abstract;"New Liner 1 <Solution>" (subsequently referred to as "this drug product") is a drug product that has been formulated to improve the skin permeability and retention properties of tolnaftate, an antifungal agent drug, using a patented technology. In an in vivo guinea pig model of experimental Trichophyton infection and in an in vitro susceptibilyty test, this drug product was compared with an athlete's foot remedies that had previously been in the ethical use category but were recently switched for OTC use. Since both test systems showed no differences in efficacy, the evidence suggested that this drug product would exert a sufficient clinical effect when administered once daily. (author abst.)
