| Abstract;Using the method reported by Yoshida et al., a model for gastric emptying retardation in rats was prepared, and the gastric emptying effects of trimebutine maleate, an enterokinetic modulator, were evaluated according to the method reported by Jacoby et al.Administrations of trimebutine maleate at 10 and 30 mg/kg p.o. significantly improved gastric emptying in the rat model. Moreover, using this rat model, the effects of coadministration of trimebutine maleate with famotidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist, on gastric emptying were examined, confirming that the coadministration did not affect the gastric emptying improving action of trimebutine maleate.
