Abstract;Firstly, the effects of installing a tire in a pen on agonistic behaviors were determined with 24 weanling pigs. At the first grouping, half of the pigs were transferred to other pens where non-littermates existed. Then half of the pens were equipped with a tire. After one week, the pigs were regrouped. After another week, the pigs were grouped again. Following, all pens were equipped with a tire. The effects of a tire on agonistic behaviors were not significant. However, the injury score was higher in the pens without a tire than in the pens with a tire(P<0.05). Pigs in the pens with a tire were attacked more than pigs in the pens without a tire(P<0.05). The numbers of agonistic behaviors and access to the tire positively correlated(rs=0.31; P<0.01). The number of attacked for pigs with no experience in using a tire was larger on the 1st day after grouping than on the 4th day(P<0.05). The injury score was higher for pigs being transferred than for pigs not being transferred(P<0.05). Secondly, the effects of suspending a basket ball in a pen on agonistic and resting behaviors were determined with the same pigs. At the first grouping, a ball was introduced into half of the pens. After one week, a ball with a tiny bell was introduced into all pens at the second grouping. At the third grouping after another week, a ball was introduced into half of the pens, and any object was not introduced into another half pens. The effects of a ball on agonistic behaviors were not significant. The number of agonistic behaviors and using a ball were larger on the 1st day after grouping than the 5th day(both P<0.01). But the duration of using a ball and resting were shorter on the 1st day than the 5th day(both P<0.01). The number and duration of resting were small and short in the pen introduced a ball with a bell.... (author abst.)
