Abstract;Quantum information and communication technology is attracting attentions. This technology, which is based on the superposition principle and the uncertainty principle in quantum mechanics, enables super parallel processing by quantum computing and realizes large capacity high speed communications. It can reduce decoding error rate of channel coded signals remarkably. Research of this technology is going on in Europe and America as big national projects, while in Japan a new research group started under the leadership of the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in 2000. In this article, direction and problems to study of this technology are described.
