| Abstract;A mixed type of primary hepatic neoplasm was found in two slaughtered sows. Macroscopically, several solid nodules were scattered throughout the livers. Histopathologically, the individual nodules consisted of two types of neoplastic components: hepatocellular and cholangiocellular. Transitional forms of these two types of neoplastic cells too were observed. Immunohistochemical examination revealed hepatocellular neoplastic cells to be positive for the anti-human hepatocyte antibody and cholangiocellular neoplastic cells to be positive for the anti-human cytokeratin AE1 + AE3 antibody. The two types were well differentiated and demonstrated low proliferative activity. On the basis of histopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics, these two cases were diagnosed as hepatocholangiocellular adenomas and represent rare examples of primary hepatic tumors discovered in slaughtered sows.
