| Abstract;NTT Energy and Environment Systems Laboratories is making good progress on an environmental information system that collects and stores environmental data on air, water, and soil using sensing networks. The system then publishes information derived from this environmental data. What significance could this environmental information hold for you and me? And what does the development of such a system require on the provisioning side? We put these questions to Research Engineer Jean-Jacques Delaunay, who is in charge of developing a cedar pollen forecasting system that will be used to offer a pollen forecasting service on a commercial basis starting in January 2004.
