Abstract; All previous reported case of ocular injury by lure hooks have been perforating injuries. We experienced a case of pediatric non-perforating ocular injury caused by a lure hook. The patient, a ten-year-old made, showed no problems in visual acuity at initial examination; the injury appeared to be mild, blunt ocular trauma. Owing to subsequent corneal clouding and edema, iritis, and retinal edema occurred that were localized in the slightly lower region of the eyeground. At two months after injury, the corneal endothelial cell decrease rate was about 36%, the average cell area had increased about 1.8 times and residual corneal damage was evident. These findings were comparable to those in severe cases of injury such as by air guns and airbags. (author abst.)
