Abstract;Suzuki's eye-check chart is a simple screening device to subjectively detect field defects. Its usefulness was evaluated in 75 eyes of 75 normal persons and 137 of 137 patients with glaucomatous field defect as shown by central 30-2 program of Humphrey Field Analyzer. The sensitivity was 53.3% and its specificity was 84%. The sensitivity increased along with advance of glaucomatous field defect. According to Aulhorn's classification modified by Greve, it was 7.1% in stage 0, 38.1% in stage 1, 53.3% in stage 2, 70.0% in stage 3, 78.6% in stage 4 and 85.3% in stage 5. Two eyes with advanced visual field defect failed to notice abnormalities even after repeated examinations. (author abst.)
