| Abstract;BSE problems and meat label fraud has heightened consumers interest in safety and quality of food supply as never before. This paper introduces related policies; a revitalization plan for "food" and "agriculture" was announces in 2002 as government policy for agriculture, forestry and fishing industries, and a principle policy for safety and reliability of food supply was drawn in 2003. The condition of food safely at present, the concept of traceability, and trend of traceability in Europe are introduced. Following that, the efforts made to introduce traceability in Japan, efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and regional seminars on food traceability were explained. In addition, the making of "Guideline for introducing food traceability", enlightenment on traceability, and promotion to exchange information were discussed. |
