Abstract;Investigation of defecation amount, frequency, characteristic, and time of the day were carried out for 2 weeks for 21 female college students. The amount of defecation were 154.0 to 20.6 per day, and the average was 84.1g per day. The amount of defecation showed normal distribution. 66.7% of the subjects had bowel movement once a day or in 2 days. Those who had bowel movement once in 3 days (constipation tendency) were 23.8%. Those who had bowel movement once in 4 or more days (constipation) were 9.5%. Those who had hard feces, and those who had sensation of incomplete bowel evacuation, tend to have constipation. The time for bowel movement was from time of waking up to 10 a.m. for most of the subjects, and there were very few exceptions.
