Abstract;Slow food has become widely recognized in the recent years, but the original meaning of it is almost unknown. "Slow food" is the name of the NPO "Slow Food Association", and is the movement the NPO is promoting to preserve the diversity of food culture carried on basically by the small size producers of food. This paper explains the NPO Slow Food Association that leads the promotion of food culture, background of slow food that has been spreading rapidly in Japan, and relationship between "chi-san chi-sho"(consuming the regional produced food in the same region) and slow food.
