Abstract;A new Zn2+-cyclen-conjugated polymer 4 (cyclen = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane) was synthesized by copolymerization of Zn2+-(4-vinylbenzyl)cyclen complex (3, ZnL2) with ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). Contents of zinc(II) ions in the Zn2+-cyclen polymer 4 was determined to be 36-42 .MU.mol/g, utilizing a Zn2+-selective fluorophore. The retention times of deoxyadenosine 5'-monophsophate(5'-dAMP) in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using 4 as a stationary was found to be larger than those of dA and adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (3',5'-cAMP), a fact implying that Zn2+-cyclen-conjugated polymers afford an effective method to detect and separate phosphomonoester anions such as nucleotides.
