Abstract; It has been theoretically shown that periodic polypeptides containing Pro residues take specific helical conformations caused by the characteristic conformational properties of the Pro residue. In this work, conformational analysis of periodic polypeptide (Xaa-Xaa-Xaa-Pro)4(Xaa=Glu, Asp, Lys) was tried by experimental (measurement of CD spectra) and theoretical methods (Molecule mechanics calculation). As the results, it is suggest that poly (Xaa-Xaa-Xaa-Pro) would take newhelical conformations which are distinguished from the well-known secondary structures, and they were supported by the calculated results.
